Low-Calorie Bang Bang Cauliflower

January 5, 2019 By ericaeckman

Whenever I see the word “Bang Bang” on a menu, my mouth immediately starts to salivate. There’s something so enticing about a sweet and spicy creamy sauce paired with something crispy and fried.

Then, I remember that I’m never going to lost that 10lbs if I keep eating like that! Most of the time, I end up getting it anyways, but truthfully, I never feel good afterwards.

One of my favorite things to do is create healthier versions of my favorite less-healthy dishes (have you tried my egg rolls?!). Most of the time, Bang Bang sauce has over 200 calories and a whopping 22 grams of fat per serving, but mine has only 24 calories and 0 grams of fat. That’s saving A LOT and it’s every bit as good as the original.

My secret? This Bang Bang sauce substitutes mayonnaise for 0% Fage Greek Yogurt.

Life Changing.

Throw this on crispy shrimp to be traditional or, do it my way and use cauliflower. Whether you’re a vegetarian or meat eater, this dish will totally hit the spot.

Here’s how it’s done…

What You’ll Need

1 small head cauliflower, broken into florets (about 5 cups)
4 eggs
1 cup seasoned panko bread crumbs

Sauce
1/4 cup Fage 0% Yogurt
2.5 Tablespoon Sweet Chili Sauce
1 Teaspoon Honey
1 Tablespoon Sriracha

What You’ll Do

1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Dredge cauliflower florets in egg and then in seasoned panko bread crumbs. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper. I personally like the smaller pieces of cauliflower vs larger pieces. But experiment!

2. Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden and crisp! Don’t rush this process!

3. While they are baking, make your sauce! Whisk together 1/4 cup 0% Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoon of sweet chili sauce, 1 tablespoon of sriracha, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and 1 tablespoon of honey. If it’s too thick or too bold, thin it out with a teaspoon of warm water. If not, leave as is!

4. Remove from oven and drizzle with sauce. Put the rest in a bowl and dip so they stay nice and crunchy!

Besides cauliflower and shrimp, what else would you throw this Bang Bang sauce on?

Love always,
Erica
