Last night, I rocked out at the Live Wholly Tour and Festival event hosted by Wholly Guacamole at the Elbo Room in Chicago. The concept is just too cool! Basically, Wholly Guacamole is traveling across the country to Nashville, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis in search of the best musicians. In each city, a line up of contestant compete in an open mic competition to win $500 and the chance to go on to the final round to win $10,000 and open up for a big music act at the festival.
Wholly Guacamole’s motto for their campaign is, “Live true. Live bold. Live joyful. Live now. Live Wholly.” What’s a better motto than that? Now, I’m no rockstar. Heck, I can’t even carry a tune. But, as I was sitting there, munching on guacamole and listening to incredibly talented musicians, I realized how easy it is to live out that motto (in any aspect of your life.) All you have to do is chase your dreams, be true to yourself, and choose happiness over everything else.
The whole idea just really inspires me!
The winning act of the Chicago event was the incredible Mack and Mark! Mack played guitar and the harmonica while also being the vocals of the duo, while Mark owned the cajon, which is a large, hollow, wooden box that creates a beautiful beat when hit in different ways. Their performance was harmonic, passionate and inspiring. I can easily see why they ended up winning $500 and the chance to continue on to compete nationally.
Not only does Wholly Guacamole make the tastiest guac (seriously, I can’t stop eating this stuff), but they also live up to their motto. This amazing cross country search for the best underground artist who Live Wholly is proof of that!
All in all, it was a night full of good vibes, free guacamole (arguably the best part), and amazing live performances –what more can a girl ask for?
Love always,
Erica
