EASY Homemade Pop-Tarts

August 10, 2016 By Erica Eckman

easy homemade poptartsYou guys, these homemade pop-tarts are the perfect morning time treat. They’re super sweet, very easy, and absolutely delicious! Lately I’ve been so busy with the baby, I am constantly trying to create quick but yummy recipes and this one totally fits the bill. If my baby girl Elia could eat, I can bet she would love these (for now she’s on a milk diet!) These beauties are also the perfect party snack or a fun way a treat yourself to some nostalgic eats.

There are so many different ways you can create and style your own homemade pop-tarts. Whether you create fun and different fillings or choose an interesting array of toppings, it’s an awesome recipe to experiment with. For my pop-tarts, I decided to make cookies and cream, strawberry, and Nutella-filled ones.

  • Scoop a heaping tablespoon of either Nutella or strawberry preserves into the center of your pop-tart base. For the cookies and cream, simply break of 3-4 squares of candy and place in the center.
  • Top your filled pop-tarts with the top halves, and push together with a fork. Brush an egg wash over the surface to ensure a perfect golden brown color.
  • Bake according to the dough’s packaging instructions.
  • While you homemade pop-tarts are baking, prepare your toppings. For a pink icing, mix 1-2 of red food coloring into some white frosting. Crush up your Oreos and nuts. Slice your strawberries.
  • Remove homemade pop-tarts from oven and allow time to cool before topping.
  • Dish up your beautiful and delicious breakfast treat.

Love,
Erica
