Kid-Friendly Sushi Sandwiches

May 22, 2018 By ericaeckman

Keeping things fresh and unique in the kitchen is tough enough. Since adding in a picky 2-year old to the mix, things have become even more complicated! Every day, I rack my brain trying to think of new and innovative ways to get Elia to try new foods and help her explore different flavors and textures.

I’ve partnered with Brownberry Bread to make the most adorable “sushi sandwiches” and my daughter thought it was the coolest thing ever. I even let her try and use chopsticks to help with her dexterity development.

For this recipe, I used the Brownberry Buttermilk Country White Bread because the color looked really cute and helped it look more like real “sushi”. Unfortunately, white bread tends to have a bad reputation, but I feel really good about serving this one to my little girl. It has no high-fructose corn syrup, no transfat or artificial colors. The bread is baked in Oconomowoc, WI which isn’t too far away from Chicago!

I decided to do a turkey variety, but you could totally switch this up and put anything inside!

Spread the mayonnaise & ranch mixture across the bread.

Leave a gap from the top edge and place a line of the turkey, cheese, carrot and cucumber across the bread horizontally.

Roll it up like you would a sushi roll and use a little extra mayonnaise mixture if needed to seal it up.

Slice and serve!

These are just as delicious as they look!

What fillings would you put inside?! Share your recipe ideas in the comments below.

  • 1 slice Brownberry Buttermilk Country White Bread
  • 2 slices Turkey
