Ham & Cheese Protein Pasta
Indulge in one of your all-time favorites without the guilt
Servings: 4
- 1/2 box red lentil pasta make sure it only has red lentils in it
- 1 package Smithfield® Anytime Favorites® Diced Ham
- 1/2 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- 6 oz shredded Swiss or Gruyere Cheese
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas
Cook your pasta according to package. Strain and set aside
To that same pot, add a spray of oil and Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham. Cook until edges start to become brown. Remove from pan
In the same pot, add in 1/2 tablespoon of flour and 1/2 tablespoon of butter. Cook until a medium brown roux is formed. Then whisk in skim milk. Turn off heat and add shredded cheese
Add your pasta into the cheese sauce, stir in some fresh or frozen green peas and 3/4 of your crispy ham
Serve and top with remaining ham
