Ham & Cheese Protein Pasta

Indulge in one of your all-time favorites without the guilt

Ingredients

  • 1/2 box red lentil pasta make sure it only has red lentils in it
  • 1 package Smithfield® Anytime Favorites® Diced Ham
  • 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 6 oz shredded Swiss or Gruyere Cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen peas

Instructions

  • Cook your pasta according to package. Strain and set aside
  • To that same pot, add a spray of oil and Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham. Cook until edges start to become brown. Remove from pan
  • In the same pot, add in 1/2 tablespoon of flour and 1/2 tablespoon of butter. Cook until a medium brown roux is formed. Then whisk in skim milk. Turn off heat and add shredded cheese
  • Add your pasta into the cheese sauce, stir in some fresh or frozen green peas and 3/4 of your crispy ham
  • Serve and top with remaining ham
